TANFOGLIO

Tanfoglio guns are produced in the city Gardone val Trompia in northern Italy. Gardone val Trompia is a part of the Brecian province stretching north and running along the river Mella.

The earliest historical document to come to light on gunmaking activity in Valtrompia is a dispatch dated April 21, 1459.

Just under 650,000 long and short-barrel guns are turned out of the Tanfoglio plant every year, mainly for sport and self-defence. Nearly 5000 people manufacture firearms in over 200 gunsmiths.

The Tanfoglio company was founded just after WW II. Initial production was only gun parts, receivers and hammers, but in 1953 the first short-barrel gun - a cal.25 (6.35 mm) pistol went into production. After 8 years the firm - " Fabrica d ármi TANFOGLIO Giuseppe" was founded. Company revenues expanded rapidly when they started to produced replica guns, the two / four barrel Derringer, the 32 long-barrel dual action S&W revolver and the cal.22 single-action Buffalo Scout revolver.

In the 1980s the Tanfoglio firm added a novelty to their production pistols. A competition and action shooting pistol - the 'Witness' was made for the International Pistol Shooting Competition (IPSC).

The Tanfoglio factory now produces approx. 90,000 pistols / year with 85 % destined for export markets.
